Robin P. Connelly, M.S.

A career spanning more than two decades has provided the opportunity to advise students who gained admission to institutions at all levels of selectivity, of varied sizes, and an array of specialized programming. My knowledge and experience encompass an expansive representation of institutions throughout the United States and Canada.

During my tenure as a Director of College Counseling I forged strong partnerships with representatives from diverse institutions. Through collaborative efforts with many of these colleagues, I organized workshops and events on a range of topics including admissions strategies for selective universities, application components and timelines, financial aid literacy, STEM-focused curriculum, and the role of athletics in the admissions process. This breadth of expertise allows me to advise students with a diverse array of interests, attributes, and goals.

I am deeply committed to ongoing professional development. I maintain membership in professional associations, add each year to the hundreds of colleges I have visited, and have served on Counselor Advisory Boards for an Ivy League school and two large public universities and held representative positions with the National Association of College Admission Counseling, the New Association for College Admission Counseling, and the College Board. I am currently completing an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership.

An avid outdoor enthusiast, personal time reflects my love of the ocean, mountains, and fitness. From backpacking, skiing, and triathlons to paddleboarding and recharging oceanside, our family embraces adventure and serenity from coastal North Carolina to the mountains of Maine.

Why the name Breakwater?

The ocean has always been the place I find clarity and calm. It is also powerful and dynamic. Breakwaters are grounded and provide buffer from the constantly moving water and sand. The image of a breakwater for me has always symbolized strength and endurance.
